Man coughs to death in Akure while waiting for taxi

Police have confirmed that a middle-age man coughed to death in Akure, Ondo State capital on Thursday while waiting for a taxi.

Ondo Police Command spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the corpse has been deposited in a mortuary.

“It is true and the young man has been identified. Efforts are on to get his family members,’’ Odunlami said.

An eyewitness, who did not want name mentioned, said the commuter vomitted blood while coughing.

The source said the man died before he could be administered first aid.

“Items found on the deceased were some drugs suspected to have been bought at a medical teaching hospital in Akure.

“The incident was reported to the police which evacuated the corpse to a mortuary,’’ the source said.
