Aiyedatiwa meets Akeredolu’s family in Ibadan

Akeredolu died on Wednesday from prostate cancer in Germany. He was aged 67.

The bereaved family has received several visitors since Akeredolu’s death. Some of them are Akeredolu’s former deputy and now governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and Kogi Governor-elect Usman Ododo.

Akeredolu returned to Nigeria in September following a three-month medical leave in Germany. He stayed in Ibadan and governed his state from there, leading to public outrage and political crisis in Ondo which almost led to Aiyedatiwa’s impeachment.

However, on December 12, his chief press secretary Richard Olatunde announced the governor was embarking on another medical trip to Germany, an indication that his health had worsened.
