Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed security agencies to investigate an attack on singer Adebayo Adeleke, known as B-Red, in Osogbo.
The incident was said to have happened on Thursday near the Oke-Fia area of the state capital.
In a statement by commissioner for information and public enlightenment Kolapo Alimi, the governor said those involved should be identified and prosecuted.
According to the statement, B-Red said he was on a personal errand when he noticed a white Toyota Venza and several motorcycles trailing his vehicle.
He said his car was later intercepted near Alekuwodo market by people he identified as political thugs.
B-Red alleged that the occupants of the vehicle tried to block his movement while shouting “It is him, it is him.”
He said he then drove toward the Government House for safety.
The singer also claimed that one of the people in the vehicle was a known local political enforcer.
Security personnel at the Government House gate were said to have intervened and dispersed those pursuing him.
“The state government views this attack on a citizen as a threat to the peace of Osun,” the statement said.
It added that the police had been asked to investigate the matter and ensure those responsible were arrested and prosecuted, regardless of political affiliation.
B-Red is the son of Governor Ademola Adeleke and cousin of singer Davido.
