Lagos records another 9 coronavirus deaths

Lagos State has recorded nine coronavirus-related deaths, increasing the state’s mortality to 81, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said on Thursday.

The agency made the disclosure in its COVID-19 Situation Report for June 10.

According to NCDC, 17 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours in seven states with Lagos having nine, three in Delta, while Bauchi, Abuja, Gombe, Ondo and Rivers State recorded one death each.

NCDC disclosed that Lagos recorded 201 new COVID-19 infections on the reported day, increasing its total number of confirmed cases to 6,266.

The state also recorded 26 new recoveries, increasing the number of discharged COVID-19 patients in Lagos to 970.

According to NCDC, 85,375 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the country, with Lagos recording the highest number of sample tests (27,616).

NCDC data shows that Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Edo States conducted 11,385, 5,331 and 4,760 COVID-19 sample tests respectively.

Lagos remains the epicentre of Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases with 6,266 cases of the total 13,873 cases.
