It’s so difficult finding whom to marry – Mikel

Mikel Obi

Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has revealed in an interview with Dele Momodu’s The Boss that, unlike “normal people”, it is so difficult for him to decide on whom to marry.

The 28-year-old, who is believed to be father of four children from three different women, has often been coy about his personal life.

He has however been open about his last two children – a set of twins born in September by his Russian girlfriend, Olga Diyachenko.

Pictures of him cuddling the two have been  made available on social media by the player himself.

His other two, a four-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter, conceived  after short relationships with their mothers have remained out of the spotlight.

On the difficulty of settling down to marriage, Mikel who was unnamed in the Chelsea side that defeated Norwich at Stamford Bridge on Saturday said “I  know, normal people don’t go through what I am going through now when it concerns finding a woman to marry, normal people don’t at all. Believe me it’s so so difficult, very difficult. It’s so so difficult you just have to leave it to God.”

Although Mikel was quoted in an interview conducted in Nigeria last year saying ” I’m in love. I’ve found love,” he told The Boss: “To find someone who truly loves you, there might be someone who really loves me truly for who I am but I may not be aware but maybe you don’t know but you may think she’s one of those people that loves you for who you are or what you have, because of your money, but maybe she’s there for you, you never know, you get so confused, now I have decided I will just leave it to God to decide who I get married to.”

The winner of two Premier League and one Champions League among several other medals also addressed his relationship with the Nigerian media which may be described as frosty at best.

Hear him: “I am not angry at the Nigerian media when they sometimes write what’s wrong, it’s like they are just doing their job.”

Given his star status, the player who has fallen down the pecking order in West London says “They (media) want to sell their papers. I am not saying Mikel is anything  but when people see Mikel on the front pages of the papers, they go and buy it and I think they are making quite a lot of money from that.”

If things are done properly, he said he would “love to speak to the press,” while explain that “but I am a busy person as well who has got schedules as well.”

On his future with the Premier League defending champions, he concluded that “I love Chelsea. I will like to finish my Career here at Chelsea but it depends on what happens, who comes and goes. That’s football, we shall see what the future holds.”
