I played no role in Adelabu family rescue – Sunday Igboho

Sunday Igboho Adeyemo

Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has denied claims that he played a role in the rescue of three members of the family of former minister of power Adebayo Adelabu who were abducted in Oyo State.

In a statement on Sunday, Igboho said reports linking him to the operation were false.

According to him, the victims were rescued by security operatives who tracked the kidnappers to their hideout and arrested suspects connected with the crime.

He said the credit for the operation should go to the security agencies involved.

“The operation was carried out by security personnel who tracked down the kidnappers’ hideout, rescued the victims and arrested suspects linked to the abduction,” the statement said.

Sunday Igboho’s clarification followed comments attributed to media personality Rufai Oseni, who linked him to the rescue effort.

The activist rejected the claim and urged members of the public to rely on verified information about the incident.

The victims, who are relatives of ex-Minister Adelabu, were abducted in Ibadan on June 3 and later rescued during a police operation.

Their rescue attracted public attention and sparked discussions about security operations in Oyo State and the South-West.

Security agencies have been commended by residents and public officials for securing the release of the victims and arresting suspects linked to the abduction.
