Funke Akindele remembers late Rachel Oniga with throwback photo

Actress Funke Akindele has remembered the late Rachel Oniga with a throwback photo.

The 45-year-old took to Instagram on Thursday to share photos of herself, Rachel, Kate Henshaw, Joke Silva and Falz on the set of Chief Daddy 2.

Captioning the photo, she wrote: “Keep resting aunty Rachel.”

Rachel Oniga died on Friday, July 30, 2021. She was aged 64.

The actress was born on May 23, 1957 in Ebute Metta, Lagos State. She started her acting career in 1993, shortly after her divorce.

Over the years, she featured in notable Nigerian films such as Sango, a movie scripted by Wale Ogunyemi, produced and directed by Obafemi Lasode and Wale Adenuga’s television series, Super Story.

Rachel was on the set of filmmaker Kunle Afolayan’s production A Naija Christmas when she took ill from what was reported to be complications related to Covid.

She died from her illness and production was temporarily suspended in her honour. The movie was later dedicated to her.

She was buried on August 27, 2021 in Lagos
