Fans open DJ Arafat’s grave after burial

Fans of late Ivorian singer, DJ Arafat, opened his grave to confirm if he indeed had been the one buried.

The burial ceremony of the much loved disk jockey, born Ange Didier Huon, took place on Saturday.

Arafat died aged 33 on August 12.

Fans swarmed the graveyard to take pictures with his corpse and touch him.

The Ivorian police eventually had to fire teargas to disperse the unruly fans.

A large funeral service was held for on Saturday where musicians, Davido, Fally Ipupa, Serge Beynaud and Sidiki Diabate performed in his honour.

DJ Arafat was considered one of the most popular Francophone artistes at the time of his death.

He issued 11 albums, mainly of “coupe-decale,” a dance music form combining choppy rhythms with hip-hop-style vocals.
