Rapper, Ruggedman, has criticised the police in Enugu for not revealing the faces of three policemen who assaulted a man, Justice Obasi, on January 4 for refusing to hand over his iPhone.

The officers were paraded with their backs facing cameras on Monday.

Ruggedman, a police ambassador, in a tweet on Tuesday said it was unacceptable for the policemen to be paraded backwards while non-police suspects are paraded with their faces revealed.

“@PoliceNG you parade suspects (not convicted criminals o) and parade them showing their faces full,” he said.

“Now you parade policemen caught on video &w camera committing a crime, you parade them with their backs to us? This is unacceptable! How do we know these are the real offenders?”

Parading the suspects in his office, Enugu police commissioner, Ahmad Abdur-Rahman, assured residents of the state that the command would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the policemen face adequate sanctions.

He said: “The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and the entire police formation were disturbed by the video, which went viral on social media.

“The IG ordered the immediate study of the video to identify the police personnel involved for immediate arrest. So, I quickly sent out a surveillance team, which identified them within the twinkle of an eye.”

The identities of the officers have not been revealed by the police, however, Mr Abdur-Rahman said the suspects were two non-commissioned officers and a constable.
