Reality TV star Phyna has apologised to police officers she earlier described as kidnappers in a viral video, saying she misunderstood the circumstances surrounding her cameraman’s arrest.
In a follow-up statement shared on social media, Phyna explained that officers had searched her cameraman and found a crusher in his bag before discovering what appeared to be a partially smoked wrap of cannabis in his pocket.
According to her, the discovery led to his arrest and the matter has since been resolved.
She said, “The group of men who I initially called k!dn@ppers are actually Nigerian police force and they arrested my cameraman because he was in the possession of weed.”
Phyna urged members of the public to disregard her earlier video, admitting that her description of the officers as kidnappers was inaccurate.
The apology came after her initial claims attracted reactions online, with some social media users criticising her for making the allegation before establishing the facts. While some fans accepted her clarification, others argued that public figures should verify information before sharing it with their followers.
