Burna Boy pays homage to Fela in ‘Ye’ video

Burna Boy

Afrofusion singer and songwriter, Burna Boy, has paid tribute to late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, in his new music video titled ‘Ye’.

Burna Boy’s ’Ye’ has topped music charts globally, and has continued to enjoy media attention.

The song itself narrates some socio-cultural issues we deal with in a laidback, easy-going manner.

Fellow singer, Timaya makes a cameo appearance in the video.

Adding to the political note of the song and video, it comes during the anniversary week of Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s death.

The dancers themselves and the outfits worn by the models are somewhat reminiscent of Fela’s dancers and there are also more glaring tributes to the legend in the video.

The video was directed by Clarence Peters.

Burna Boy rose to prominence in 2012 following the release of ‘Like To Party’, the first single off his debut album L.I.F.E (Living an Impact for Eternity).

The album is a 19 song tracklist including his hits ‘Yawa Dey’, ‘Don Gorgon’ ’Check and Balance’ and ‘Run my Race’.
