President Muhammadu Buhari has met separately behind closed doors with Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum and former governor of Lagos State Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Mr Zulum updated the president on security developments in Borno while Tinubu thanked the president for his support during the colloquium held in Kano in March in celebration of his 69th birthday.

Buhari, who participated virtually at the colloquium of the former two-term governor of Lagos State, commended the celebrant for always being an advocate of unity and cohesion in Nigeria.

It is the first time Tinubu is visiting Aso Villa in a long time. His long stay away from the villa had generated rumour of a rift between him and Buhari, forcing the Presidency to discredit the rumour.

As of press time, there was no official statement on the outcome of the meetings held on Monday night.
