BREAKING: APC postpones Lagos governorship primary

Akinwunmi Ambode (2)

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed the Lagos State governorship primary scheduled to hold on Monday.

Also postponed are primaries in Enugu and Adamawa states.

A statement issued by the party’s national publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena, on Monday said the Lagos exercise will now hold on Tuesday, October 2.

The Enugu and Adamawa Direct primaries will hold on Thursday, October 4.

The mode of primaries for Enugu and Adamawa states has also been changed from indirect to direct primaries.

All eyes are on Lagos following the stiff competition between incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Speaking a press conference on Sunday, Ambode declared Sanwo-Olu unfit to be governor.

He accused him of spending fake dollars in a US nightclub and that he underwent rehabilitation at the Gbagada General Hospital.

Responding, Sanwo-Olu accused Ambode of lying against him and demeaning the office of governor.

APC national leader and former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu, weighed in, saying Ambode had deviated from the blueprint of governance in the state.

Tinubu said he would be voting for Sanwo-Olu in the governorship primary.
