Appeal court stops Oshiomhole’s suspension

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has ordered the discontinuation of the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a bench ruling on Monday by a three-man panel led by Justice Abubakar Yahaya, the appellate court ordered a stay of execution of the suspension order given by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Jabi, Abuja.

Justice Danlami Senchi of the FCT High Court had on March 4, 2020, given an order suspending Oshiomhole.

The appellate court ruled shortly after Oshiomhole’s lawyer, Wole Olanipekun, moved an ex parte application seeking an order for stay of execution of the lower court’s order.

The court said the order would remain binding pending the hearing of Oshiomhole’s motion for interlocutory injunction slated for Friday.

The panel also unanimously restrained the respondents including the police and the Department of State Services (DSS) from further giving effect to the suspension order.
