The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has upheld former Oyo governor, Abiola Ajimobi, as its acting national chairman.

The NWC rose on Wednesday from its 45th emergency meeting, which had 15 of 21 members in attendance, to affirm the leadership of Ajimobi.

The former governor was the party’s national deputy chairman (south).

National Vice Chairman, South South, Hilary Eta, who was elected to chair the meeting, addressed the media soon after the Deputy National Secretary, Victor Giadom, left the party secretariat after declaring himself the new acting national chair.

Eta said Giadom had ceased to be a member of the NWC, having resigned to contest for deputy governorship of Rivers State during the last general elections.

He also said preparations for the Edo Governorship primary was on course.

Eta announced the seven-man Edo State Governorship Election Panel to conduct the June 22 primary.

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, is to serve as chairman of the panel while Senator Ajibola Bashiru will serve as panel secretary.

Eta also named a five-man Election Appeal Panel headed by Prof. Mustapha Bello and Kayode Ajulo as secretary.
