APC postpones national convention indefinitely

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed indefinitely its national convention earlier scheduled for February 26.

The party’s caretaker extraordinary convention planning committee led by Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni announced the postponement on Monday.

The ruling party informed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in a letter of its plan to conduct zonal congresses ahead of the national convention.

The letter signed by Buni and the committee’s secretary, John Akpanudoedehe, said zonal congresses will now be held on March 26, 2022, nationwide.

“This notice supersedes our earlier notice for national convention referenced APC/NHDQ/INEC/019/22/14 this is predicated on the evaluation of our party Constitution.

“In furtherance to Article 5 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and compliance with section 12:6 of our Constitution we hereby write to notify the Commission of our great party, the All Progressives Congress has scheduled to hold its Zonal Congresses on Saturday, March 26, 2022,” the letter read.
