All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Bola Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola on his victory in the governorship primary election on February 18.

In a congratulatory message on Monday, Tinubu said Oyetola’s victory across the 332 wards in the state was an affirmation of his performance in his first term.

He said, “Last Saturday, All Progressives Congress members in Osun rose in their large numbers to exercise their democratic rights.

“They voted massively to give governor Adegboyega Oyetola a clear mandate to contest for a second term in office.

“Their decision was expressed in very unambiguous and unmistaken terms. For this overwhelming victory in the APC primary election, I wholeheartedly congratulate and rejoice with him.”

According to him, the party members also deserve praise for not only conducting themselves in an orderly manner, but for ensuring that their choices are expressed freely, fairly and unreservedly.

The presidential aspirant said that Moshood Adeoti and Lasun Yusuff, who also contested at the primary, should be commended for exercising their democratic franchise peacefully. He, however, did not speak on the minister of interior Rauf Aregbesola who backed Adeoti to win the election.

Tinubu urged Oyetola to extend a hand of fellowship to those who vied for the ticket along with him.

According to him, the governor must endeavour to bring them within the party’s fold so that together they could go into the July 16 governorship election as a united family.
