Court suspends Oshiomhole as APC chairman

Adams Oshiomhole

A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Jabi has given an order for the suspension of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, pending the determination of a substantive suit.

Justice Danlami Senchi gave the order on Wednesday following an application of interlocutory injunction asking the court to suspend Mr Oshiomhole, having been suspended as a member of the APC by the party in Edo State.

The application filed by Oluwale Afolabi has Oshiomhole as first respondent and the APC as second respondent.

In the application dated and filed on January 16, Mr Afolabi said he did not see reason why Oshiomhole would continue parading himself as APC chairman despite his suspension as a member of the party.

The judge said the APC has been wrong in recognising the former Edo State governor as national chairman.

The court also gave the APC orders not to grant Oshiomhole access to the party secretariat.

Oshiomhole was suspended by the APC in Edo State after he was suspended by the party’s leadership in his ward in same state for alleged anti-party activities.

He countered the suspension at the time saying that only the party headquarters could suspend its national officers.
