Agents use Super Eagles to sell players – Rohr

Gernot Rohr

Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, has claimed that certain agents leverage on the national team to auction their clients to European clubs.

The German tactician made this known in an interview with Peak Milk on Friday.

According to the ex-Niger tactician, domestic players have had minimal progress under his watch due to the antics of their intermediaries.

Out of the 23 players that executed the last two international fixtures against South Africa and Uganda, just two got a call from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Ahead of the start of another football season, Mr Rohr has advised local players to be more patient rather than jump on any available flight to leave the continent.

“We have already called up a lot of local players, but many of them end up going to Europe,” he said.

“Sometimes I feel like agents just want to bring them to the national team to make it easier to sell them.

“I love local players and I want them to play in the Super Eagles.

“However, its like agents want them in the team in order to sell them to foreign clubs.

“The local players need good infrastructure to play.”
