The Healed Disability Initiative, an NGO has called on journalists to collaborate with People Living with Disabilities (PLWD) across the country.
Coordinator of the Bauchi based NGO, Mainas Ayuba, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Bauchi, that this would increase public awareness on their challenges.
He said that the media breaks all barriers and boundaries by amplifying the voice of the voiceless.
”Journalists should ask the questions on people with disability and set agenda on their issues.
“The media should take the human rights approach to every socio-political matter that seeks to discriminate against persons with disabilities,” he said.
Ayuba said that PLWD were part of the society, adding that they should enjoy equal right in national developments.
