Fuji musician Adewale Ayuba, will perform live in Ibadan on Monday, May 5, as part of activities marking the 20th anniversary celebration of ParrotXtra Media Network.
According to a statement by Olayinka Agboola, publisher of ParrotXtra and convener of the event, the milestone celebration will also mark the debut edition of the Southwest Leadership & Legacy Summit.
The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. at The Excellessor, a new venue beside BCOS in Basorun, Ibadan.
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, will play host to other Southwest governors at the gathering, which will focus on the theme, “Southwest: Critical Issues to Shape the Future.”
Traditional institutions will be well represented, with the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade (Owoade I); the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin (Ige Olakulehin I); and the Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba (Dr) Adedokun Abolarin (Aroyinkeye I) attending as Royal Fathers of the Day.
Former Oyo State House of Assembly speaker, Monsurat Sunmonu, will serve as the mother of the day, while the director general of the DAWN Commission, Dr Seye Oyeleye, is billed to deliver the keynote lecture.
The exclusive, strictly-by-invitation event will attract top dignitaries including Chairman of the Day, Ambassador (Dr) Yemi Farounbi; former military governor, General Oladayo Popoola; media entrepreneur, Dele Momodu; AIG Tunji Alapini (rtd); Senator Babafemi Ojudu; Professor Ayobami Salami; Barristers Iyiola Oladokun and Akeem Agbaje; Alhaji Hassan Fatungase and Mr Godwin Mekwuye of Vivid Imagination, among others.
ParrotXtra Media Network, a division of ProKonnect Limited, was founded in 2004 by Agboola, a seasoned journalist who previously worked with Fame Weekly, ThisDay, Ovation International, Sketch Newspapers and the Nigerian Tribune.
He also served as Deputy Chief Press Secretary to a late former governor of Oyo State.
Agboola, who turns 60 on the day of the event, currently oversees operations of ParrotXtra Glossy Magazine, its online counterpart PMParrot.com and the radio programme ParrotXtra Hour/Ayekooto, aired every Tuesday at 11 a.m. on Splash 105.5FM, Ibadan.
The event is being coordinated by Clement Ige’s CEEDEE resources company and will feature a performance by Ayuba, who is expected to deliver hits like ‘Koloba Koloba’ and more.
