Nigerians on social media have reignited a conversation about perceived double standards after celebrity barman Cubana Chief Priest visited President Bola Tinubu.

Cubana Chief Priest, real name Pascal Okechukwu, met with Tinubu in Abuja on Sunday—just a day after paying homage to Vice President Kashim Shettima.

In a video posted on his Instagram page, the socialite was seen kneeling before the president as they exchanged pleasantries and shook hands.

Captioning the video, he wrote, “The Symbol Is The Broom 💥 Together They Can Never Break Us @officialasiwajubat 001. My Desire For You Is More Than I Can Explain @asuquoekpenyongjr Distinguish Na Water. CpNoSmall”

The post has since sparked backlash—not directly at Cubana Chief Priest, but in defence of actress Toyin Abraham, who was heavily criticised for publicly supporting Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.

Social media users noted the contrast in public reactions to both celebrities’ political alignments. While Toyin Abraham faced months of trolling and boycotts—including reported attacks on her Netflix profile—Cubana Chief Priest has seemingly been spared the same treatment.

Toyin Abraham has not publicly reacted to the renewed online debate.
