President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for official visits to France, Kenya and Rwanda.
The presidency announced the trip in a statement on Friday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, President Tinubu’s first stop will be France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa-France Summit scheduled for next week.
The summit will be co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto. It will focus on energy transition, industrial growth, digital development, global financing reforms and climate action.
Tinubu is expected to attend the summit from May 11 to May 12.
The presidency said his participation reflects Nigeria’s commitment to partnerships with African countries and France.
The summit, with the theme “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” will bring together African leaders and French officials to discuss economic growth, climate issues, infrastructure, youth development, technology and peace-building.
After the Kenya summit, Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, for the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 and May 15.
The forum has the theme “Scale or Fail.”
It will focus on economic growth through regional integration and cross-border investment.
Organisers said the event, held in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), will bring together more than 2,000 business leaders, investors and policymakers.
The presidency said Tinubu will deliver statements at both events on his administration’s reforms and efforts to attract investment.
He is also expected to hold meetings with African and global business leaders.
Tinubu will travel with some ministers and senior aides and return to Nigeria after the Rwanda forum.
