Top 5 Nollywood movies to watch out for at AFRIFF

The sixth annual Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) will hold in Lagos from November 13 to 19.

It will open with the screening of Nate Parker’s Birth of a Nation.

Here are the top five Nollywood movies to be screened at the festival.

  1. 76

An Izu Ojukwu movie starring Ramsey Nouah, Rita Dominic, and Chidi Mokeme, the movie gives an insightful look at the attempted 1976 military coup against the government of General Murtala Mohammed.

  1. The Arbitration

The Arbitration was directed by Niyi Akinmolayan and it stars OC Ukeje, Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama, Adesua Etomi, Iretiola Doyle, Sola Fosudo and others. The movie is set on whip-smart courtroom drama about lust, betrayal, and the price of ambition.

Based on the true story of heroes and heroines who risked their lives to save the country from the consequences of the deadly Ebola virus, the movie was directed by Steve Gukas. Hollywood star, Danny Glover, joins Bimbo Akintola, Gideon Okeke, Bimbo Manuel, Charles Okafor, Keppy Ekpeyong Bassey and Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama for this one.

  1. Just Not Married

The movie tells a story of a brilliant, but broke undergraduate student, who strives to escape the slums through criminal means. Directed by Uduak-Obong Patrick, it stars Stan Nze, Rotimi Salami, and the producer, Judith Audu.

  1. The CEO


It tells the story about a big telecom company in Africa seeking to replace a recently departed CEO. Five top executives are picked from across the continent to take part in a strategy boot camp run by Dr. Zimmerman (Angelique Kidjo). The pan-African movie was directed by Kunle Afolayan.
