Actor Clinton Joshua says he avoids kissing scenes in films to prevent being typecast.
Speaking in an interview on TVC’s E Splash, Joshua said the decision is a personal boundary aimed at protecting his career.
He explained that actors who become known for certain on screen acts may struggle to secure different roles.
“I don’t kiss in movies because this is Nollywood and when you are doing that (kissing) — I am not trying to brag — producers will likely give me the same role over and over again,” he said.
The actor, known for roles in For Her Sake, We Are All Yours and Flavours of the Heart, said he does not want his career limited to romantic characters.
“I don’t want to kiss half the girls in Nollywood,” he added.
Joshua’s position reflects a broader conversation in Nollywood about how actors approach intimate scenes.
Bimbo Ademoye has said she is selective about such roles and chooses scripts that align with her comfort level.
Daniel Etim-Effiong has also spoken about his approach to on screen intimacy, noting in interviews that he prays before filming such scenes and approaches them with caution and professionalism.
Etinosa Idemudia has explained that intimate scenes are purely acting and do not reflect real emotions, stressing that they are performed as part of the job.
