Teebillz apologises to Toke Makinwa after controversial remarks

Showbiz promoter Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz, has apologised to media personality Toke Makinwa following his comments about her understanding of family.

On Thursday, Teebillz shared a throwback photo of himself, his ex-wife Tiwa Savage, and their son in matching pajamas on Instagram.

In a now-edited caption, he wrote: “I’m grateful to God for healing and love! Love never dies… TOKE MAKINWA, having a child for a man is a different type of forgiveness and love that you are yet to attain.

“I pray you do, sis. Hope you remember the nonsense you talked about me too… Blessings and love to the Idibias during this trying time.”

His remark was in response to Toke’s criticism of 2Baba following the singer’s public confirmation of his separation from Annie Idibia while she was in rehab.

Following backlash, Teebillz tendered an apology during a live Instagram session with OAP Daddy Freeze shared on Friday. He admitted that he was triggered by Toke’s outburst over 2Baba’s announcement and felt she was unfairly judging a personal matter.

“I would like to publicly apologize to Toke. I think my message was misconstrued because, at the end of the day, we are all family. This feminist thing is getting out of hand. My question is, where was she all this while in Annie’s life?” he asked.

Teebillz also argued that reality shows, such as Young, Famous & African, exploit people’s vulnerabilities for content. He maintained that separation can sometimes be necessary for healing and reconciliation.

“This separation is a blessing for Annie and 2Baba to fix themselves. Who knows whether they are coming back together tomorrow? Who are we to choose sides?” he added.

Reflecting on his own experiences, Teebillz noted that family disputes are never straightforward. “You can’t judge how people express themselves when they’ve bottled things up for years. I went through the same thing. I gave everything to Tiwa Savage, but the problem we had was the entertainment world.”

He also acknowledged Tiwa’s role in raising their son, stating, “Every time I fought for Tiwa, people thought I was mad, but that’s the mother of my child. When I see my child doing well, I am happy, and that’s because of Tiwa.”
