Same-sex marriage not biblical — Kumuyi

William Kumuyi

General superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry Pastor William Kumuyi on Wednesday said the kind of marriage God permits is one between a man and a woman.

This comes hours after Pope Francis granted permission for Catholic priests to bless same-sex couples although the union will not be recognised as marriage.

In his address at Deeper Life International Conference Centre on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, during the opening ceremony of a joint event of the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK) and the 2023 National December Retreat tagged “Emmanuel”, the clergyman said he would continue to follow the command of Christ on marriage.

He said, “The Lord Jesus Christ told us before he left that we should go to the world, teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. He even says heaven and earth shall pass away but his words will not pass away.”

I can run relay race, says 82-year-old Kumuyi

“We stand in obedience to Christ and submissive to him and we carry on the works of Christ that said a man and a woman should be joined together in marriage until death do us part,” he added.

Speaking on the essence of the Yuletide, he said it was a period to celebrate the impact and the sacrifice that Jesus made for the whole world.

Kumuyi stressed that his zeal was to influence young people, stating that December 26 had been slated for ‘Youth Impact’ to discuss the work of Jesus which would change their lives.

The crusade is scheduled to start from December 21 to December 26.
