Rita Edochie reacts as INEC declares Adeleke winner of Osun gov election

Actress Rita Edochie has congratulated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party Ademola Adeleke on defeating Osun State Governor Ggboyega Oyetola in the governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday morning declared Ademola Adeleke winner of the election.

INEC returning officer for the poll Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe said Adeleke got a total of 403,371 votes while the incumbent Governor Ggboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress got 375,027 votes.

Shortly after the announcement was made, Rita Edochie took to Instagram to celebrate with Adeleke.

“Congratulations Odogwu. My man. PDP power to the people,” she wrote.

Before the election, the actress had been sharing videos of Adeleke on Instagram, drumming support for him.

The local governments won by PDP are Ede North, Ede South, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Egbedore, Odo Otin, Osogbo, Ila, Atakumosa West, Olorunda, Ilesa West, Obokun, Oriade, Orolu, Ife North, Irepodun, and Ejigbo.

Oyetola however won the following: Boripe, Ilesa East, Ayedire, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Ayedaade, Iwo, Olaoluwa, Isokan, Atakumosa East, Ife South, Ife Central, and Ife East LGAs.

According to INEC, the state has 1,955,657 registered voters. A total of 1,479,595 permanent voter cards were collected before the election.
