Politics can wait: El-Rufai visits Shehu Sani over mother’s death

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, put the lingering dispute with Senator Shehu Sani aside on Tuesday to condole with the latter over his mother’s death.

The governor and the senator representing Kaduna Central at the National Assembly have been bitterly hostile towards each other since El-Rufai emerged the All Progressives Candidate (APC) governorship candidate for the 2015 general elections.

Death, however, united both men when the former FCT minister visited the bereaved at his Tudun Wada residence.

Chants of “Sai Malam” rented the air as El-Rufai joined others to pray for the deceased.

Former governor Ahmed Makarfi and Ibrahim Shekarau of Kaduna and Kano states respectively were among the dignitaries who visited the bereaved family on Tuesday.

The two ex-governors are members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Hajiya Fatima Abubakar Sani died at the age of 75 on Saturday, May 21, at the Garden City Hospital, Kaduna, after a protracted illness.

Survived by five children and 20 grandchildren, she was interred shortly after her death in line with Islamic burial rites.
