Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai has been granted bail by a Federal High Court in Kaduna in a corruption case filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
He will remain in the custody of the commission until he meets the bail conditions set by the court.
The development was confirmed on Tuesday shortly after the ruling by his son Bello El-Rufai and a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The case is part of ongoing proceedings involving allegations of corruption against the former governor.
He has denied the allegations.
The bail ruling comes amid a separate case at the Kaduna State High Court, where the ICPC recently amended its charges against him.
In that case, El-Rufai was re-arraigned on multiple counts and pleaded not guilty.
During proceedings, the defence team said he had cooperated with investigators and was ready to comply with any conditions set by the court.
The prosecution had earlier opposed bail, citing ongoing investigations.
The state court adjourned ruling on his bail application in that case to April 21.
