Police arrest Kwara senator, others over alleged killing at APC rally

Kwara State Police Command has said that it has arrested Senator Rafiu Ibrahim and eight others for alleged involvement in the murder of two persons in Ojoku area of the state.

Ibrahim represents Kwara South senatorial district in the National Assembly and is seeking re-election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Kwara police spokesperson, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed the development to newsmen on Friday.

Mr Okasanmi said the senator was arrested on Thursday, adding that he and others were brought in for questioning over the violence that broke out at the campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) organised by the party’s senatorial candidate, Lola Ashiru.

According to Okasanmi, the senator was apprehended on allegations of being behind the attack.
