Ondo deputy gov Ajayi dumps PDP again after 50 days

Agboola Ajayi

Ondo State Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi has withdrawn his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His media adviser Allen Sowore said in a statement on Monday that the decision was as a result of the call on him by a majority of Ondo people “to give hope to the hopeless, provide credible and purposeful leadership in our dear State”.

Mr Ajayi urged his supporters to remain focused and committed, adding that he would be announcing his next line of action soon.

Chairman of the PDP in Apoi Ward II of Ese-Odo Local Government Area Festus Oboro acknowledged the receipt of the resignation letter on August 9.

Ajayi had only rejoined the PDP from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on June 21. He lost his governorship bid to Eyitayo Jegede.

The deputy governor is expected to announce his movement to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in the coming days.

ZLP’s National Executive Committee is said to have cleared him to be its governorship candidate.
