Nollywood shouldn’t only be about comedy – Faithia Williams

Actress, Faithia Williams, has said that the content out of Nollywood should not only be comedy-related.

The 50-year-old actress said this in an Instagram post on Friday while talking about American mini-series, When They See Us.

“Who has seen When They See Us? May we not walk into evil o. May God protect us from calamity and evil of man. I also think it is time for us in Nollywood to start telling our stories like this,” she said.

Faithia also added that the audience needs to be accepting of different type of stories.

“The audience too need to start accepting these kinds of stories. Everything should not be about comedy, laughter and slapstick. We have stories, we need to tell them without being scared that the market won’t accept it,” she said.

Faithia Williams is a veteran of the Nigerian movie industry.

She has starred, produced and directed several Nigerian films over the years.

In 2008, she won the Africa movie Academy Award for the Most Outstanding Actress (Indigenous), while her movie Iranse Aje won the best indigenous film of the year.
