My mum inspired ‘One Naira’ song – Waje

Singer, Waje, has revealed that her mother, Stella, inspired her verse on the 2010 song, ‘One Naira.’ on which she collaborated with rapper, M.I Abaga.

The 39-year-old gave credit to her mother when she shared a birthday message to her on Instagram on Tuesday.

She wrote, “The real inspiration behind ‘One Naira.’ After writing choruses, M.I wasn’t feeling, he said, ‘think of something you’ll give everything for’ and I thought of this selfless woman who sacrificed everything and I wrote a chorus that years after, people still sing. happy birthday, mum.”

Waje, whose real name is Aituaje Iruobe, similarly praised Stella in her birthday message to her in June 2016 and joked that she is sure to inherit her mother’s good looks as she grows older.

“No amount of money will pay her for being the best mother,my best friend. We have been through so much together that I always have this overwhelming desire to protect her and care for her……. Soft spoken woman of God. Please celebrate my mum ….. Happy birthday mummy dearest…. Chei I go fine well well when I old o,” she wrote on Instagram.
