The police in Cross River State have arrested a 30-year-old man, Edet Inyang, for allegedly attempting to sell two of his children.

Reports say Mr Inyang took his two children; a boy and a girl, to Murray Street where he sought for buyers to enable him raise money.

“He came here with the children and asked after one rich man on this street and when he did not see the man we asked him what he was looking for the man for and he said was looking for someone to buy his two children. He said the male child is N200, 000 each and the female 150,000,” a source identified as Clement Ekem said.

Mr Ekem said locals had to stop him from going away as they contacted the police.

The man is said to be from Akwa Ibom State but is resident in Using Inyang in Odukpani local government area of Cross River State.

Cross River police spokesperson, Irene Ugbo, said she had not been briefed on the issue.

However, the divisional police officer at Atakpa police station confirmed the man’s arrest.
