Actress Lota Chukwu has reacted to the criticism over her colleague Funke Akindele’s announcement as the running mate of Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State.

Funke Akindele confirmed her appointment as the deputy governorship candidate in a statement shared on Instagram on Tuesday, July 12.

The announcement was met with mixed reactions from those who questioned her competence to lead the people of Lagos State.

Reacting to the criticism on Twitter, Lota, a star of Funke Akindele’s hit series Jenifa’s Dairy defended the latter, saying that Funke has a law degree and being an actor doe not make a person incompetent for a political position.

She wrote: “People arguing about Funke Akindele’s eligibility forget she has a law degree. Also, being an actor must mean someone is dumb to some of you. If only y’all know the brains it takes to study script after script and actually be as credible a thespian as she is.

“Let’s not go into what it takes to be a writer, director, producer for multiple award-winning works… and a businesswoman. The takes are quite disrespectful. Say something else.”
