Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has mocked some former federal lawmakers whom he described as Twitter senators.
In a discreet tweet on Wednesday, Mr Keyamo, without mentioning names, taunted former senators, Dino Melaye and Shehu Sani.
The two former senators are in the list of politicians active on social media.
“Have you noticed that all Twitter senators are finally out of the upper chambers? It tells us that the world of REAL politics in Africa is not yet played on social media. Social media has not had a substantial impact on our politics. REAL politics is different from social media,” he said, stylishly throwing in support for the social media bill.
Sani lost the Kaduna Central senatorial seat to Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general elections.
Melaye, however, lost Kogi West seat to Smart Adeyemi of the APC after a re-run conducted last Saturday.
Adeyemi was sworn in on Wednesday by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.
