Guinness World Records has reacted to a bread inspired outfit worn by former Big Brother Naija housemate Queen Atang at the 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), sparking conversations online about a possible record.
In a video shared on Instagram on Sunday, Guinness World Records commented, “Well, we do have a record for the largest cake dress … hmmm.”
Reacting to the comment on Wednesday, Queen wrote, “Hello @guinnessworldrecords, I see you in the comment section.”
The interaction further fuelled discussions around her appearance at the AMVCA, which has remained a trending topic on social media days after the event.
According to Guinness World Records, the current record for the world’s largest wearable cake dress weighs 131.15kg.
The record was set by Natasha Coline Kim Fah Lee Fokas of SweetyCakes GmbH in Bern, Switzerland, on January 15, 2023.
Queen had appeared on the AMVCA red carpet in an outfit designed with loaves of bread, complete with a matching prop. She later explained that the look was inspired by her bakery business.
“AMVCA 2026 ready. I come as an entrepreneur who runs a bread EMPIRE,” she wrote at the time.
Reports from the event said the outfit was designed by celebrity stylist Toyin Lawani and reportedly featured about 500 loaves of bread.
Speaking at the event, Queen also said she used the AMVCA platform to promote her bakery brand, Swit Cakes & Desserts.
The outfit drew mixed reactions online, with some praising the creativity behind the concept while others questioned the use of food as fashion material.
On Monday, Queen proposed the introduction of a special entrepreneurs focused category at the AMVCA, saying business owners should also have a space to showcase their brands through creativity and fashion.
The 12th AMVCA held in Lagos celebrated achievements in African film, television and digital content, while the red carpet once again became one of the major highlights of the event.
