Minister of art, culture, tourism and the creative economy Hannatu Musawa has lost her mother Ladi Musawa after a period of illness.
The family announced that Hajiya Ladi Binta Musa Musawa died on Saturday.
Born on August 15, 1955, she was 70 years old.
A statement from the family made available to QEDNG read:
“Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un
“With total submission to the Will of Almighty Allah, we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Hajiya Ladi Binta Musa Musawa, today, 13th June 2026.
May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings, have mercy upon her soul, grant her Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and give the family the strength and patience to bear this irreparable loss.
“Jana’iza prayer will take place after Zuhr prayers at the National Mosque Abuja.
“Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un.
‘Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.’ (Qur’an 2:156)
“May Allah (SWT) grant her eternal rest. Ameen.”
Musawa also confirmed her mother’s passing in a post on Facebook, announcing details of the funeral arrangements.
The minister said the funeral prayer would take place at the National Mosque in Abuja after Zuhr prayer on Saturday, while the burial would be held at Gudu Cemetery.
The post read:
“This is to inform the Muslim Ummah of Salatul Janazah (Funeral Prayer) at the National Mosque, Abuja.
“Today, Saturday 13th June, 2026, After Zuhr Prayer by 1:30pm
“Female: Hajiya Fatima Ladi Binta Musa Musawa (Mother to Barr. Hannatu Musa Musawa, Honorable Minister Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy).
“May Almighty Allah forgive and grant her Aljannatul Firdausi. Aamiin.
“Interment: Gudu Cemetery, Abuja”
Heads of agencies under the Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy are expected at the funeral.
The minister’s father and veteran Katsina politician Musa Musawa died on March 7, 2023, at 85, following a protracted illness.
