Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Sunday stepped out in an Arsenal jersey at an event to honour his late older brother and first civilian governor of the state Isiaka Adeleke.

Pictures of the governor dressed as a Gunner were uploaded on his Instagram page on Monday.

The caption of the Instagram post quoted Adeleke as saying “Yesterday evening, I led members of the Adeleke Dynasty and dignitaries to honour the memories of my elder brother the first civilian Governor of Osun State, Otunba Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke at the final of the annual football competition, Osogbo City Stadium as sponsored by Hon. Bamidele Salam.

“As a sports lover, I want to state that we will develop sports in Osun State. We shall rehabilitate our stadium to an international standard. Before our hundred days in office, the people of Osun will see the difference.

“We shall soon be rolling out our programmes and I believe it’s going to be for the benefits of everyone.”

Popularly known as Serubawon, Adeleke’s late brother was the first civilian governor of Osun State.

The late Isiaka Adeleke presided over the state from January 1992 to November 1993.

He died on April 23, 2017 while serving as senator representing Osun West, prompting a by-election which Ademola Adeleke won.

The governor is also the younger brother of Adedeji Adeleke, the billionaire father of music star David Adeleke, better known as Davido.

Unlike his uncle, Davido is believed to be a Chelsea fan.
