Ghanaian President Akufo-Addo denies telling Tinubu to seek treatment, give Peter Obi a chance

President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo has discredited reports claiming he wrote to a presidential candidate in Nigeria Bola Tinubu, urging him to seek treatment.

Akufo-Addo said via Twitter on Tuesday that he never wrote such letter to Tinubu nor to the All Progressives Congress (APC). He also denied asking Tinubu to give another presidential candidate “Peter Obi a chance”.

“My attention has been drawn to a disturbing post making the rounds on social media, where it is alleged I have written to the 2023 presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, to ‘give Peter Obi a chance and seek treatment for his health,'” the Ghanaian leader said.

“This is completely false and mischievous, with no iota of truth whatsoever in it.

“I have written no such letter to the APC leader, and it will not occur to me to do so. Ghana and Nigeria boast of decades of cordial, strong and brotherly relations, and I am not going to be the one to interfere in the internal affairs and politics of Nigeria.”

Tinubu’s health has been a topical issue since he declared his ambition to be president in 2023. His choice of a Muslim, like himself, as running mate has also raised eyebrows.

Obi, on the other hand, enjoys large following on social media and among young people who want the establishment out.
