FirstBank has confirmed the appointment of Olayinka Ijabiyi as substantive group head of marketing and corporate communications.
The bank announced the appointment in a statement on Thursday, saying it takes immediate effect.
Mr Ijabiyi joined FirstBank in 2011 and had served in acting capacity as group head of marketing and corporate communications since December 2024.
In his new role, he will oversee marketing and corporate communications strategies across the group’s markets.
His responsibilities include brand and reputation management, executive positioning, corporate responsibility and sustainability, as well as strategic communications.
Before his confirmation, Ijabiyi held other leadership roles within the bank, including head of brand strategy and special projects, head of digital marketing and head of brand and stakeholder management.
Before joining FirstBank, he worked at British Council, Multichoice, MTN and Etisalat Nigeria.
The bank said he has more than 25 years of experience in marketing and corporate communications across financial services, telecommunications, media and international development.
Olayinka Ijabiyi holds a master’s degree in public and international affairs from the University of Lagos and a bachelor’s degree in English language from the former Ondo State University, Ado Ekiti.
He is a fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
