Pop singer Wizkid has joined the call for the scrapping of the Nigeria Police Force’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) after video of the shooting of a young man in front of a hotel in Ughelli, Delta State went viral on Saturday.

Responding to President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet wishing US President Donald Trump quick recovery from COVID-19, Wizkid said on Sunday that the president should concentrate on ending indiscriminate killings by SARS.

“Donald Trump is not your business! Old man! Police/Sarz still killing Nigerian youth on a daily! Do something! Nothing concern u for America! Face your country !!” he wrote.

Wizkid, 30, further charged Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to act on the matter after the latter had tweeted he would take action.

“Mr Governor! I met with you December 2019!” he began, “You expressed how proud you are of the entertainment industry and all we do. Pls do something let’s be proud of you too abeg! #Endsars!!”

The SARS has come under criticism in recent times for harassing the youth, making indiscriminate arrests and killings.

In January 2019, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu only disbanded the SARS, directing it will now be domiciled under the direct supervision of the commissioners of police in the 36 states.
