Ezekwesili restates call to ascertain Buhari’s mental health after Malami’s statement

Oby Ezekwesili

A former presidential candidate Oby Ezekwesili has re-emphasised her call for the citizenry to demand an independent medical examination to ascertain the physical and mental health of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Her statement on Thursday morning followed a release on Wednesday by the Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami that the National Assembly had no constitutional power to summon Buhari.

Buhari was summoned by the House of Representatives to speak on the Federal Government’s efforts at ending terrorism and other security challenges in the country.

“A society gets repeatedly supplied the behaviour it rewards. Nigeria once had a President whose capacity to carry on the duties of office was considerably eroded. Jokers in his Government hid it from citizens.

“Were they ever punished? NO. We are there again. Is it not obvious? Citizens are not yet ready. If we were, there is no way ‘Attorney General’  Malami would voice yesterday’s disrespectful opinion on the Right of Citizens to demand Public Accountability on ANY issue from @MBuhari before the @nassnigeria. Malami believes he can get away with it,” Mrs Ezekwesili wrote.

The former education minister added: “When Citizens are ready, we will collectively demand for that extremely urgent Independent Medical Panel on the mental and physical state of being of @NGRPresident @MBuhari.

“The signs are clearer every day that the country is not being governed…. not being led.”
