Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has declared that presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Donald Duke has no chance of winning the 2019 election.

The showbiz impresario turned politician made the statement in a tweet on Wednesday night in response to a video shared by entertainer and activist CharlyBoy.

In the video, Mr Duke is seen saying he would not do well if he had emerged the presidential the PDP presidential candidate.

Duke was governor of Cross River State from 1999 to 2007 on the PDP platform.

“The culture of that party is inimical to Nigeria’s growth,” he said.

Referring to himself as a founding member of the PDP, he said there is too much corruption in the party.

He added that the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar cannot fight corruption because of the baggage in the party.

Responding, Murray-Bruce said that as handsome and eloquent as the former governor is, he stands no chance in 2019.

Turning to CharlyBoy, the senator representing Bayelsa East said what the maverick musician is doing is not wise, and that if he wants President Muhammadu Buhari gone, Atiku is the only choice.

The SDP on Tuesday announced that it has pulled out of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), an alliance of 45 political parties.

SDP’s decision is believed to be connected to the party’s refusal to be associated with the decision of the CUPP leadership to endorse Mr Abubakar as consensus candidate.
