Dino Melaye commits blunder in condolence message to Tinubu

Dino Melaye

The senator representing Kogi West at the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, once again betrayed his dodgy knowledge of the English Language in a condolence message sent on Thursday to Bola Tinubu over the death of his son, Babajide.

In a message posted on Twitter, Melaye, a geology graduate of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, prayed that the “life” of the deceased should rest in peace.

“Very sad to lose such a promising child. May God comfort our leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he added.

The faux pas was quickly spotted by his more discerning followers who pointed out that he should have written “soul” instead of “life”.

Others also pointed out that Melaye should have mentioned Tinubu’s wife, Oluremi, with whom he is a member of the Senate.

Melaye had in July 2016 mocked Remi Tinubu that she had reached menopause after she accused him of threatening to rape and impregnate her when they both clashed during a closed-door session at the National Assembly.

He followed that up by verbally attacking her husband, Bola Tinubu, and taking pictures close to their residence on Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi.

The Tinubus lost their son earlier in the week after he suffered what is believed to be a cardiac arrest.

The law graduate of the University of Liverpool, England was buried in Lagos on Wednesday.

Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, is the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the platform on which Melaye was elected to the Senate in 2015.
