Detained Adeleke to be arraigned on fresh charges today

Senator Ademola Adeleke who was detained on Monday after he honoured an invitation at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, will be arraigned on Tuesday (today), police have said.

Adeleke, who represents Osun West, had been ordered by Justice Inyang Ekwo of Federal High Court, Abuja to honour a fresh police invitation on Monday before embarking on a medical trip to the United States scheduled for Tuesday.

Force spokesman, Frank Mba, in a statement on Monday night, said Adeleke had been served with charge sheet and would be arraigned in court on Tuesday.

Mr Mba said: “Senator Adeleke is currently in police custody. He was taken into custody in the evening of today (yesterday) in connection with ongoing criminal investigations touching on his person.

“Meanwhile, in the best tradition of natural justice and fair hearing, he has already been served with the relevant charge sheet containing his alleged offences in the presence of his attorneys.

“He will be arraigned in a competent court of law tomorrow, 7th May, 2019.”
