Ovation publisher, Dele Momodu, has congratulated former Ghana president, John Mahama, for winning the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primaries to contest the 2020 presidential race in his country.

Mr Mahama, 60, was declared winner on Saturday to set up a third consecutive face-off with incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo.

In messages posted on social media shortly after the NDC primaries results were announced, described Mahama as “the great leader of Africa.”

He also published results from the election that saw Mahama polling over 95% of the vote.

Mahama previously served as Ghana president when he won the 2012 vote against Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), before losing to his rival four years later.

NDC and NPP have dominated politics in West Africa’s second-biggest economy where there has been a change in government every eight years since 1992.
