David Ibiyeomie counters criticism over pastors’ silence on insecurity

Founder of Salvation Ministries Pastor David Ibiyeomie has responded to criticism that religious leaders have remained silent over insecurity and other challenges facing Nigeria.

Speaking during a church service, Pastor Ibiyeomie said pastors have not ignored national issues, contrary to claims made by some critics.

According to him, church leaders have spoken on governance and security concerns over the years, but their interventions are often overlooked.

The cleric also questioned why some individuals who were vocal during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan are no longer speaking out.

“Now nobody is talking again; all those people who used to riot are not rioting again. Nigeria is a funny country. They talked during Jonathan; why they no talk again?” he said.

David Ibiyeomie also reacted to claims that pastors have remained silent on the country’s security situation.

“They say men of God are not talking about the country’s insecurity; the ones who talked during Jonathan’s term, why aren’t they talking now? The time we talked, una talk? We’ve been shouting since,” he added.

His remarks come amid public debate about the role of religious leaders in addressing insecurity and other national issues.

In recent days, some public figures have called on church leaders and other religious figures to speak more openly about developments in the country.
