Court remands 20-yr-old for allegedly strangling mother to death

An FCT  High Court in  Apo   on Monday  remanded a 20-year-old man, Aliyu  Ndalolo,  in Kuje  prison for culpable homicide after he allegedly stabbed and strangled  his mother.

The defendant, a resident of  Light Well Estate, Utako,  is standing trial on a  charge of culpable homicide to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr Shuaibu Labaran, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on June 13, 2016.

He said that Aliyu stabbed his mother,  Maryam Ndalolo, with a kitchen knife and then strangled her to death.

The prosecutor added that the defendant hid  the corpse in a bag and dumped it at  a refuse site at Jabi  where it was later discovered.

The offence, he said,  contravenes Section 221(b) of the Penal Code and is punishable by death

Justice Idris Kutigi adjourned the case till April  30  for hearing.
